Maybe someone just didn't like his politics. Did Mr Hollande have something to fear? Indeed, he didn't want his affair disclosed, but affairs aren't illegal, he wasn't married, technically he was'n't even committing the act of adulatory. Morally distasteful, yes. But now we have the morality police to keep us all from transgression... just in case 'they' have us in their sights.
